Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
¼ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp nutmeg (optional, for a subtle depth)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Cooked fettuccine or your favorite pasta
Instructions
Melt the butter and sauté garlic: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Add the cream: Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let it simmer gently for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Incorporate the cheese: Reduce heat to low. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
Season: Add salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Serve: Toss the sauce with cooked pasta immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan if desired.
Tips for Perfect Alfredo Sauce
Cheese matters: Use freshly grated Parmesan, not pre-shredded, for the creamiest texture.
Consistency: If sauce is too thick, add a splash of pasta water to thin it.
Protein additions: Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed mushrooms to make it a full meal.
